Originally built in 1996, this detached characterful six bedroom family home was by and large totally rebuilt in 2012 with very little left of the original structure.

Inglewood is a unique residence that has been beautifully remodelled to provide exquisite modern interiors with a boutique feel and a sense of spaciousness across all three levels. This lovely property is situated to the rear of this exclusive gated development off Beverley Lane and is set within grounds of approx. 0.30 of an acre, being the largest plot amongst its neighbours.

The property benefits from new double glazed windows, re wiring, with CAT 5 points and recessed lighting to all rooms, a five amp lighting circuit to the formal drawing room and master bedroom, new central heating and plumbing with under floor heating to the porcelain tiled surfaces on the ground floor with electric underfloor heating to the bathrooms, a completely new roof, outside lighting and irrigation to the garden. All the joinery is new with Walnut doors leading to all the rooms.

History:

Devey Close was named after George Devey who was commissioned by Edward Charles Baring, a London Banker, who bought Coombe Cottage (now known as Coombe House and has been Grade II listed) in the 1860s when it was a very plain, small early nineteenth century house, to extend it to create a country retreat for Baring and his family. George Devey was one of the most important country house architects of the Victorian period.

Coombe Cottage was one of his earliest commissions and its use of the neo-vernacular style, anticipated the work of more famous architects such as Shaw and Webb. Queen Victoria is believed to have visited and on occasions stayed as the guest of Edward Baring and of the widowed Empress Eugenie whilst a resident during part of 1881 - 1882.

Dame Nellie Melba, a famous operatic soprano but perhaps more famous for having the dish ‘Peach Melba’ named after her, lived at Coombe Cottage in 1906.
